Wigan Athletic Community Trust works with hundreds of young people in schools each week.
Through the Premier League Primary Stars project it is able to provide schools with the chance to receive up to 70 hours of free PE coaching, After School Sports Clubs in over 10 different sports, termly football competitions and support for pupils with their literacy and numeracy.
As well as improving the health and well-being of pupils, the programme also works with school teachers to increase their confidence in delivering PE through mentoring provided by the Community Trust’s team of expert coaches.
Be-spoke sports coaching packages are also available to primary schools with the Community Trust able to support the delivery of all areas of the national curriculum.

In secondary schools, the Community Trust looks to raise the aspirations of students through its Latics Enterprise Academy which, in partnership with the Premier League and Sport Relief, teaches young people how a professional football club operates to inspire them to become interested in business.

The Community Trust can also offer secondary schools a range of be-spoke alternative education activities based in school or at the facilities at the Montrose Skills Hub with qualifications available in both business and sport.
