TRAINING AND SKILLS
If you are over the age of 16 and would like to pursue a career in sports coaching or just gain new qualification and skills Wigan Athletic Community Trust can help you achieve your ambitions.
From its base at the Montrose Skills Hub and using facilities at both the DW Stadium and Wigan Youth Zone, the Community Trust runs Level 2 qualifications and a Level 3 Apprenticeship in PE and School Sport for 16 – 18 year olds.

- Travel expenses
- Industry recognised qualifications including FA Level 1 and Level 2 coaching badges
- Wigan Athletic training kit
- Work experience in a variety of settings

The Community Trust also provides a range of volunteering opportunities for 16–19 year olds as well as a three-month work placement for unemployed young people through its Traineeships scheme.

If you are interested in continuing your studies at university in partnership with the University of South Wales, the Community Trust can also help you achieve this through it’s Foundation Degree in Community Football Coaching which combines distance learning with sports coaching experience in both a school and community setting.
