Latics aim to maintain their Central League campaign when they head to Port Vale's Vale Park this afternoon, hoping to build on back-to-back draws to the start of their league season and impressive friendly victories against Derby County and most recently Burnley.

The game follows on from their 3-1 victory over Burnley at Christopher Park, with Latics impressing courtesy of goals from Joe Piggott and Under 18 stars Joe Gelhardt and Jensen Weir.

Academy Coach, Nick Chadwick, will be hoping Weir and Gelhardt can continue to perform following their impressive performances against the Clarets, whilst Divin Baningime and Mitchell Culshaw will also be hoping to be in the frame.

Culshaw scored Latics’ equaliser in the entertaining 2-2 draw against Notts County following Leo Da Silva Lopes’ cross, with the latter also having a part to play in Wigan’s first of the game which resulted in an own goal.
