Now let's find out a bit more about international striker Arouna Kone, here are 10 quick facts about him and his career.
1.The 28-year-old was born in Anyama, Ivory Coast, the same suburb as Arsenal forward Gervinho.
2.His career began at his local club Rio Sport D’Anyama before moving to Belgian side Lierse in 2002.
3.Kone has also played in the Netherlands with Roda JC and Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven who he left in 2007 to move to Spain with Sevilla.
4.Last season saw the striker loaned out to Levante of La Liga where he spear-headed their attack with 15 goals in 34 games and ended the season in fine form scoring six in his last eight games. His impressive form helped the Valencia-based club finish 6th in the league and qualify for the UEFA Europa League.
5.Kone unusually wore the number two shirt for Levante last season despite being a striker, making him the first to wear the shirt in the Barclays Premier League.
6.One of his stand-out goals of the season came early on in the season as he scored the only goal in Levante’s 1-0 victory over eventual champions Real Madrid in September 2011.
7.The 6 foot forward is known for his physical strength and aerial ability.
8.Arouna was born on 11th November 1983; the day after his birth Latics ended a four game losing in streak Division Three by beating Wimbledon at Springfield Park 3-2.
9.He made his international debut in 2004 against Tunisia and has since gone on to earn 35 caps, scoring nine goals and also featured in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
10.Arouna isn’t the only Kone of Ivorian football as his older brother and fellow international Bakari currently plays for Qatar SC after spending most of his career in France with clubs such as Lorient, Nice and Marseille.
