Winger back with a bang at Bloomfield Road

Wigan Athletic’s Nouha Dicko was on the scoresheet last night as Blackpool triumphed 2-1 over Leeds United at Bloomfield Road in the npower Championship.

Coming off the bench with less than half an hour to go, and with his team trailing 1-0, the French winger hit home an equaliser with 15 minutes to go, shortly before Kevin Phillips scored the winning goal.

The goal is the 20-year-old’s fifth for the Tangerines having scored four times in ten appearances last season for Ian Holloway’s team. He also featured in Blackpool’s match against Millwall on Saturday, the first appearance of his season-long loan spell.

Elsewhere last night, Lee Nicholls made his second appearance for Northampton Town, where he is on loan until the end of October, as the Cobblers defeated Rotherham United 2-1 at Sixfields Stadium.

The 19-year-old was in superb form for Aidy Boothroyd’s team, making a string of fine saves in his second appearance since joining the League Two side.
