Scottish midfielder ready to make an impression

After watching Latics put in a professional and efficient performance in their 2-0 victory over Southampton at the weekend, Fraser Fyvie reflected on the opportunity that could come up in tomorrow’s Capital One Cup 2nd round tie against Nottingham Forest.

“It would be great for me and a few of the other young lads to get the chance to prove ourselves on Tuesday because we are all really raring to go.

“Last week I got a game for the Under 21s which was great because it keeps you on your toes.

“I linked up really well with other lads from the first team squad like Callum McManaman, Daniel Redmond, Jordan Mustoe and Roman Golobart which was great because they’ve got a lot of quality.

“There’s real quality throughout the club so whoever plays against Forest will be really ready and up for the challenge.”

Forest’s latest test was a 2-2 draw with Bolton Wanderers on Friday night, and Fyvie saw that as a preview of how strong they could be.

“I watched them against Bolton on Friday night and they were very good.

“They’re very strong going forward and played a similar game to what we play really, they kept the ball well and passed it around well too.

“There are players that can make things happen too like Lewis McGugan who scored an amazing goal against Bolton.

“We have to concentrate on our own game though and show what we can do because we’ve all got that belief in ourselves and we have to go there and get a result.”
