Wigan Athletic will play West Ham United in the third round of the Capital one Cup

Wigan Athletic will travel south to face West Ham United in the third round of the Capital One cup in the week commencing 24th September.

The two sides have never met in the League Cup but have twice met in the in FA Cup in 1984 and 2004, West Ham won on both of those occasions.  The last time Latics met West Ham was that famous day at the DW Stadium in May 2011 when Roberto Martinez's side came from 2-0 down at half time to win 3-2 and ensure Premier League survival and relegate West Ham to the Championship.  

West Ham United however have bounced straight back to the Premier League at the first attempt under Sam Allardyce.  This third round tie will be the first of at least three meetings this season with West Ham due to arrive at the DW Stadium in the Barclays Premier League a month later on October 27
