Wigan Athletic return to Barclays Premier League action this Saturday with the visit of Stoke City to the DW Stadium and will look to continue the run of form shown in the win over Southampton, the cup victory over Nottingham Forest and even the final 85 minutes of the opening game of the season against Chelsea, despite the 2-0 reverse.
Stoke City arrive having suffered a League Cup defeat to Swindon Town and having drawn their first two Premier League games at Reading on the opening weekend and against Arsenal last Sunday.
The only selection problem that the Wigan Athletic manager faces is the absence of Paraguayan defender Antolin Alcaraz. The 30 year-old was dismissed for a second bookable offence in Tuesday's game at the City Ground meaning he must sit this game out. Everybody else is fit and available.
Stoke City say that Matthew Etherington remains Tony Pulis' main injury worry, he's nursing a hamstring injury which has ruled him out of the sides last two games. Dave Kemp is reportedly edging nearer to full-fitness, but he admits he still isn’t sure as to whether he will be ready to feature on Saturday. New signing Jamie Ness, who limped out of Tuesday's defeat to Swindon will also miss out, whilst long term absentee Mamady Sidibe remains sidelined with a minor groin strain.
