Chilean wing back buoyant after Latics' confident 3-0 victory against Aston Villa

“I really enjoyed the game and it was a very good victory for us,” said the 28-year-old.

“I thought we played well in every department and we feel like we really accomplished what we set out to do in our preparations.

“As a group we have made sure that we keep our heads high and fight to win despite things going against us.

“The attitude of the team is superb and the dressing room is a great place to be at the moment.”

Yesterday’s win lifted Latics up to 16th in the Barclays Premier League, a position which Beausejour believes Latics can still improve on.

“The three points are very important in our aim to get 40 points in the Premier League and the manner of the win shows how serious we are taking the task of getting away from the bottom three.

“We want to push ourselves up the table and beating Villa will definitely give us the confidence to do that.”

On his own performance he added.

“The way we played allowed for me to get into a lot of good spaces down the wing but, it is nothing different from the past few games because we’ve worked the ball around the pitch very well.

“The difference against Villa is that we were clinical in what we did and we have taken the benefits from that with the three points."
