Development Squad travel to Gigg Lane on Thursday

Wigan Athletic wish to confirm that the Development Squad’s pre-season friendly fixture against Bury at Gigg Lane will take place on Thursday August 2 with a 7.45pm kick off, despite a number of recent reports to the contrary.

Graham Barrow’s team have had a productive pre-season programme thus far, taking on AFC Fylde and producing a solid performance despite the 2-0 defeat, and also Southport where Adam Dawson’s goal helped secure a credible draw at Haig Avenue.

With just a few weeks to go before the new season kicks off, Latics still have friendly games against Stockport, Marine and Wolverhampton Wanderers to look forward to with Barrow saying:

“The lads have worked extremely hard since returning to training and I’ve seen a real desire in their attitude to take on board the instructions they’re given and implement them on the pitch.

“Their performances against Fylde and Southport may not have resulted in victories, but their progression is evident and the Bury game will help us take another step forward.”
