Defender reflects on recent loan spell at Burton Albion.
Rob Kiernan returned from his loan at the Pirelli Stadium last week and saw himself called up straight onto the substitutes’ bench for the Capital One Cup tie against Bradford City.
His spell in League Two with Burton was a successful one with six games under his belt and the team losing just once when he played, something which the 21-year-old believes will be a great influence on his career at Wigan Athletic.
“I really enjoyed being at Burton because there’s nothing better than playing every week.
“I was playing games on Saturdays and then Tuesdays which was great and every game is another feather in the cap.
“It is a very hard league because it is a really physical league which I knew already after last season at Accrington Stanley.
“The experience that my time at Burton has given me will only be a benefit and hopefully make me more competitive within the squad.”
Kiernan said he enjoyed his time at Burton but was happy to return to Christopher Park.
“I’m really happy to be back because this is the place I consider my home.
“It will be good to get back here with the lads because I feel I’ve been progressing really well and training with the first team again will be great.
“I’m hoping that I’ve done enough to impress the gaffer because I think I performed quite well at Burton.”
