On-loan winger Ryo Miyaichi shares his delight at being back in the action.
Miyaichi made his return from injury yesterday as a second half substitute for Franco Di Santo.
The 19-year-old has been unavailable for Latics since the end of October and was delighted to be fit again.
“I felt very comfortable coming on and it has filled me with confidence, it was a happy moment for me to return.
“Sometimes the injury and the recovery was stressful because as a footballer all you want to do is be fit to play.
“When I got injured I knew I would have to work hard to get a chance in the team again.”
“I picked up the injury when I was with the national team and I came back to play against Nottingham Forest in the Under 21s to test the injury out and then I knew that I would need to have a recovery period.”
Miyaichi’s introduction couldn't turn things around yesterday afternoon but, the Japanese international says the team are intent on picking up points next week.
“Yesterday was a very good opportunity because the fans turned up in their numbers and it was good to show them what I could do.
“We went to Anfield to get points but, that didn’t happen and now the aim is to pick up points in the next game against Reading.
“The team is going to fight hard in the next game to make sure that we can turn what was a good first half performance against Liverpool into a good overall performance.”
