Latics make it back-to-back home wins against the Foxes.

Hamilton 5
Anderson 65

Bailey 75

A second goal in two games from Matty Hamilton started Latics on their way to their second victory in two games and Brad Anderson scored his first of the season to double the lead.

Latics were made to defend well at the end when Leicester pulled a goal back but, they saw the game out solidly to claim a well-deserved three points.

The home side were straight out of the blocks as they looked to build on the previous week’s win against Derby County.

Fast flowing and high tempo attacking play was the theme from that win and after just five minutes it was on show again as Mike Wilson controlled a clearance from Leicester’s goalkeeper, before sliding the ball through the defence to Hamilton.

The forward took the ball in his stride, setting himself to shoot as he slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

For 45 minutes Latics played the ball from the goalkeeper to the forwards with a lucid style and chances came thick and fast in a first half that could have seen them three or four goals ahead.

They waited until the second half though to push further clear when Anderson curled a 25-yard free kick into the bottom corner, selling the goalkeeper short as he shaped to bend it the other way.

Leicester did manage to force Latics into a tasking last 15 when they pulled a goal back through Kyle Bailey after a defensive error but, the home side shook the mistake off and remained solid to see out the win.
