Youngster wants to make big impact at Latics after league debut

After making his league debut for Latics on Saturday against Stoke City, Ryo Miyaichi told Latics Player he’s hungry for more action and desperate to reward the fantastic support he’s received from everyone at the Club since arriving.

“Everyone has been so friendly since I arrived and I’ve enjoyed every day of being here,” said the 19-year-old.

“Now I want to repay the support of the fans, staff and my team-mates by producing good performances on the pitch and hopefully scoring some goals as well.

“Roberto has told me to enjoy myself when I’m in training or on the pitch during a match, and that is what will help to improve more than anything.”

Next up for Latics, after the international break, is a trip to Old Trafford and the possibility of Miyaichi going toe-to-toe with a fellow countryman:

“I’m really happy to be here and now we have a big game to look forward to against Manchester United, who themselves have a Japanese player in their team in Shinji Kagawa.

“There is going to be a lot of excitement back home in Japan when the game begins so it would be nice to play a part and give football fans back there something to smile about and of course make our fans happy by getting a result.”
