Chilean can’t wait to get back out on the Wembley pitch.
In 2011 Jean Beausejour came away from Wembley Stadium with a League Cup winners medal as part of the Birmingham City team that beat Arsenal 2-1 in the final.
Just over two years on the 28-year-old will return to the national stadium and he explained how he is looking forward to the chance to be back on the pitch.
“Playing at Wembley compared to at other stadiums is totally different because of the pitch.
“I liked playing on the Wembley pitch and I think we can play very well on it on Saturday because it suits the way we play.”
Following Birmingham’s Wembley triumph in 2011 they ended the Premier League season in the relegation zone, something Beausejour is determined not to repeat with Latics.
“To avoid the situation that happened with Birmingham with getting relegated at the end of the season, we will have to take one game at a time and only concentrate on each one as it comes.
“After winning at Wembley with Birmingham we were too relaxed because we were 12th in the table but the situation is different this season and we know how hard we have to work to make sure we are successful.
“We won’t be losing focus against Millwall and they deserve credit for making it to the semi final as does any team that gets this far.
“We respect Millwall a lot and we need to be ready to face their strong team.
“We have a great chance to write some history for the club on Saturday and we are determined to do our best.”
