Ali Al Habsi believes that internal focus will be key in survival fight.

“The squad, the staff and the fans are all ready for the fight,” said the Omani goalkeeper.

“We need to be focused and we need to believe like we have done for the last three years.”

With five games remaining in the Barclays Premier League for Wigan Athletic and a historic first ever FA Cup final in between, Al Habsi expressed that every outcome is in Latics’ hands.

“Now is the time to focus on ourselves and not think about the other teams because we know that at the moment we control what happens to us this season.

“Everything is in our hands and especially this weekend as we have a huge game against Tottenham.

“It will be a difficult game because they are looking to get a Champions League place.”

Competition is high within the squad at the moment, which is something that Al Habsi has relished and believes the team are benefiting from.

“The manager believes that everyone who is fit is ready to play and we have six games in total left in the season so to have everyone ready is a real positive.

“It’s brilliant that if someone goes into the team they can do equally as good a job as the player the come in for.

“We all know that whoever is in the team or comes into the team has to do the job for the team.”

Another aspect that Al Habsi says can have an impact on the team is the support in the remaining home games.

“We’ve got three games at home starting with Spurs and the fans will be crucial for us because they know just how effective they can be.

“The most important thing is not to put big pressure on ourselves and just play our game because that is the way that the results will come.”
