Latics’ FA Cup top goal scorer says the team are prepared for Millwall challenge.

“We’ve only ever taken each game as it has come, we’ve never thought ahead of ourselves,” said Jordi Gomez.

“We’ve played teams from different divisions over the games in this competition and we know how difficult it can be so we’ll be ready for Millwall.

“Our style of play is a lot different to Millwall’s but we are not worried about their style because we will be focusing on our performance.”

Gomez has three goals to his name in the competition this season, finishing a rebound from a penalty against AFC Bournemouth, converting a penalty against Macclesfield Town and then rounding off the quarter final victory against Everton but he believes there have been no individuals in Latics’ journey to Wembley.

“It’s not about how an individual has played through this cup run, it’s about how the team has played and everybody deserves this chance to play at Wembley.

“It’s nice to be in the semi final obviously but personally I’m not trying to get too carried away because we have still got a lot to do this season.”

As well as team spirit, Gomez has called for consistency and repetition.

“We’ve played a lot of football this season and we’ve been scoring goals in the cup so hopefully we can keep up that form.

“Everything was perfect in the last round against Everton and if we can repeat that against Millwall then it would be very pleasing.

“We are in a good moment of form now and hopefully today we can just keep that form up with another win.”
