2 August 2013

Adrian Purzycki and Chris Haigh send back their reports from Denmark.

Denmark Diary – Day 12 Friday 2nd August, 2013

Today is Adrian’s birthday so there is a good atmosphere among the group.

After breakfast the day started off fairly demanding as the morning training session was at a high tempo and it was really hot weather as well.

We trained at the stadium where we watched the Danish first division game the evening before. It is right next to OB’s stadium and also has an athletics track.

The pitch was really good even though there was a game on it the night before and the whole facility left a good impression on us.

The training session was quite short (about one hour 15 minutes) but pretty intense which is how we prepare the day before our games.

There were lots of passing and moving sessions as well as possession practices.

We had some shooting practice as well meaning Chris had plenty to do – except for when the birthday boy Adrian scored from all of his shots!

After training we returned to the hotel for lunch. The staff are working with us on developing good habits and leading the right lifestyles so the afternoon was used to relax and hydrate ourselves.

Some of the team went for a walk into the town while the rest just took the opportunity to chill-out and conserve energy.

The evening meal was really nice with a choice of steak, meatballs, pasta, and fish. We are learning all the time about which foods we should and shouldn’t eat.

Today was an exception though as the staff had arranged for a birthday cake for Adrian which we were all allowed a slice of but not too much.

We all sang ‘happy birthday’ to Adrian and he blew out the candle!

After the evening meal we all went for a walk around a different part of town.

This was to have a small bit of exercise after our big meals and to freshen our minds before we sleep in preparation for the game against OB tomorrow.

It was also nice to see more of the town and learn about more about life in Odense and Denmark.

We hope to have an improvement in performance and result tomorrow!
