200-page publication goes on sale Monday
Saturday 11 May 2013. It is a date which is still fresh in the memory of every Wigan Athletic fan and one that will go down in FA Cup folklore.
Ben Watson’s 91st minute goal helped complete another incredible chapter in the history of our club, whilst providing the famous competition with another fairytale story to add to its long list of iconic tales.
Over the summer the club has complied the perfect piece of limited edition memorabilia for supporters; a 200-page book telling the story of our amazing journey from Bournemouth to Wembley en route to winning the FA Cup. To mark the momentous year we’ve printed just 2013 of these books, and once they’re gone, they’re gone. This really is a one-off opportunity to get your hands on a special souvenir.
Each tie had its own unique story attached for one of the players who helped make the dream come true, and inside this publication they reveal what winning the cup meant to them and how the path top glory was landmarked with significant moments for them personally, as well as loads of never-before-seen images from every game.
Read what playing at Dean Court meant for Roger Espinoza, how a Fifth Round tie at the John Smith’s Stadium brings back on and off the field memories for James McArthur, why ‘that’ goal at Goodison Park was so special for Callum McManaman – even if he can’t remember it, and, of course, Ben Watson’s FA Cup Final story.
Jordi Gomez also talks about the trip to Moss Rose to face Macclesfield, whilst Shaun Maloney reflects on his magic moment at Wembley against Millwall. Chairman Dave Whelan opens up about his own FA Cup tale whilst we also have a potted history of Latics in the cup and the stories you the fans sent to us about the big day.
The book goes on sale Monday 19 August at the Latics Club Shop DW Sports Store in the Grand Arcade, Wigan or online at wiganathletic.com/shop and is priced at £24.99.
Remember, there are only 2013 of these books being printed so make sure you’re there to get your hands on this fantastic publication.
