The final game of 2013 sees Burnley visit the DW Stadium
Wigan Athletic v Burnley
Sky Bet Championship
Sunday 29 December 2013, kick off 3.00pm
The visit of Burnley in the final game of 2013 will provide manager Uwe Rosler with perhaps the best test so far of what, if he doesn't know already, he needs to do get Wigan Athletic in a position where they can challenge for promotion in May. Sunday's visitors have been a surprise package for many this campaign with the Clarets sitting in the second automatic promotion spot on the eve of the halfway point, despite a rare defeat at the Riverside Stadium on Boxing Day.
Uwe Rosler will have injury concerns over Norwegian defender Thomas Rogne who was an early substitute in the game against Birmingham City on Boxing Day. The manager also confirmed Nick Powell was carrying an injury without saying how long he expected the Manchester United loanee to be out for. Ben Watson is available again after serving a on-match band for picking up his fifth yellow card of the season at Reading while Jean Beausejour also picked up a fifth yellow against Birmingham so will miss this game.
Head to Head
Wigan have a very good record against Sunday's visitor having only lost twice in 23 previous meetings and never on home soil. For the full Wigan v Burnley head to head record, please [click here].
