Record crowd expected as club announce on the day cup sales

Bobby’s boys could be roared on by their biggest away following of the season after the club confirmed tickets for Sunday’s FA Cup fifth round tie against Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium will be available to purchase on the day of the game.

With sales already nearing the 2,000-mark, Latics aim to reach the quarter final stage of the competition for only the second time in the club’s history, and more now have the opportunity to attend what could be a record breaking game at a memorable venue.

2,300 fans cheered Latics through their fourth round tie against Macclesfield Town at Moss Rose, after 235 made the long and arduous trip to the south coast for the third round replay against AFC Bournemouth.

Roberto Martinez stressed the importance of Latics’ travelling fans this season, and how well the team are responding to the support on the road, saying:

“Against Bournemouth and Macclesfield our following was tremendous, and gave us the feeling of playing a home game at our opposition’s stadium.

“We have a unique bond at our club between the players and fans which has been crucial to our success on the pitch.

“Now we have the chance to continue writing a unique story in the FA Cup, and in order to so I know we can rely on the fierce support of our fans at the John Smith’s Stadium.”

Adult tickets are available for £10.00, whilst Over 65s, students and Under 16s can purchase for just £5.00 from the DW Stadium until 12 noon on Saturday or at the John Smith’s Stadium on Sunday.
