Maynor Figueroa is stand-out performer with assist for Honduras, as seven others represent their countries.
Honduras provided one of the results of the evening yesterday with their 2-1 against USA in the first match of the final stage in the North and Central America and Caribbean qualifying group.
After falling behind Maynor Figueroa provided a chested assist for a Juan Carlos Garcia over-head kick and he played a part in the winning goal too as he put Boniek Garcia through on goal to square to Jerry Bengtson for the finish.
Roger Espinoza also started the game and provided the engine in midfield.
All of Latics’ representatives were successful in their duties, with the early game of the day providing victory for Ali Al Habsi’s Oman as they beat Syria 1-0 in the first game of their qualifying group for the 2015 Asian Cup.
Shaun Maloney and James McArthur featured for Gordon Strachan in his first game in charge of Scotland as they beat Estonia 1-0.
Maloney was the man fouled for the free kick that led to Charlie Mulgrew’s goal and McArthur came on as a second half substitute.
James McCarthy also started in midfield for Republic of Ireland as they overcame Poland 2-0 in Dublin, with the 22-year-old playing 71 minutes before being substituted.
McCarthy came close to a goal of his own when he forced Wojciech Szczesny into a fingertip save with a side footed effort.
Latics’ South American representatives were also winners as Chile beat Egypt 2-1 with Jean Beausejour playing 79 minutes and Angelo Henriquez an unused sub, while Franco Di Santo made a cameo appearance for Argentina to collect his second cap as he replaced Gonzalo Higuain in second half stoppage time as his side beat Sweden 3-2 in Stockholm.
