Miyaichi aims to be available for Reading game.
The last time we saw Ryo Miyaichi play was in November last year when he came on as a second half substitute against Liverpool but, the Japanese winger found himself side lined after that game and has been working on his recovery ever since.
He can now see a return date in sight and is aiming to be available for selection for the away trip to Reading on 23 February.
“The injury has been getting better but I will have to wait a few weeks yet, I’m doing well though.
“It will be big relief to get back because it has been quite a tough time to be sat on the side lines.
“I had a groin injury at first when I was with the national team last year.
“That injury put me out for a few months and then I came back in the game against Liverpool at Anfield and after that game I picked up an ankle injury which has made things frustrating.
“I trained after that game and it made my ankle worse but I can learn many things from this injury.”
Despite facing such a lengthy spell out injured, the 20-year-old has been happy to learn from the situation.
“I’ve learned how to prepare better for games and for training which will help me in the future.
“What’s happened has happened and I’m just really focussed on being available for the manager from very soon until the end of the season.
“Staying positive hasn’t been a problem for me because that is just the way I am and it has helped me to recover.”
With 12 games remaining in the Barclays Premier League this season Miyaichi is looking to make an impact in the team and work hard to help Latics secure their league status.
“It is important now for us to win as many games as possible because we are desperate to stay in the Premier League.
“I want to be able to help the team in achieving safety in the Premier League and it will be great to show the supporters what I can do once I am back.
“I’ve been out for a long time so I’ve missed a lot of games so I need to show the fans how I can play and hopefully they will be happy to see me.”
