Chief Executive praises Cup support and calls for momentum at Britannia Stadium

Wigan Athletic fans can buy tickets on the night at the Britannia Stadium when Latics take on Stoke City in the Barlcays Premier League. Tickets are also available until 3.00pm this afternoon from the DW Stadium ticket office.

Latics fans rallied to support the team at Macclesfield on Saturday in the FA Cup with more than 2,300 supporters braving the snow and ice to make the relatively short but treacherous trip to the Moss Rose to see Latics progress to the fifth round of the competition and as Chief Executive Jonathan Jackson says, it would be great to see those fans carry that winning feeling to the Potteries in what is a massive match tonight.

"It was magnificent to see the Wigan supporters taking up almost half of the Moss Rose on Saturday in the FA Cup and it would be great to see many of those supporters who made that trip, plus those that couldn't get tickets for Macclesfield, at the Britannia Stadium tonight.

"The players are understandably lifted when we have a large away following as we have seen in recent years at Blackpool, Bolton and Blackburn and of course at Stoke in 2011 when Hugo’s goal helped to retain our place in the Premier League. It makes a huge difference to the players and although we know it can be expensive to watch Premier League football tonight’s game is a very important fixture in our season as we look to climb out of the bottom three.

"With tickets available at the ground tonight, it's a perfect opportunity to get behind the team under the floodlights. Stoke is also one of our closest rivals in the Premier League with lots of parking, a great atmosphere and reasonable ticket prices. We look forward to seeing the travelling fans out in numbers again.
