Wigan Athletic Vice-Chairman and Chairman of Wigan Athletic Community Trust Phillip Williams was guest of honour at a special sports awards evening at the DW Stadium in June.

The Just Join In Awards recognised the achievements of young people and adults with disabilities who take part in weekly football and sports coaching with the Community Trust.

Each week the coaches from Latics in the Community work with boys and girls in special and mainstream schools across Wigan on a range of different sports including football, athletics, basketball, curling and bocia.

Everyone who takes part in the schools coaching has the chance to go on and represent Wigan Athletic in matches against other football clubs.

At the awards all the players who have played for the Club this season were given a medal and had their picture taken with the FA Cup.

Special prizes were also given to the Under 16 Player of the Season Chris Burns and the open age of player of the season Matthew Hunter.

The Just Join In programme is supported by the Premier League/PFA Community Fund for more information please contact Chris Baxter at Wigan Athletic Community Trust on 01942 488 530 or e-mail
