For the second year in a row Latics are back in action at Edge Green Street.

John Doolan and Joe Parkinson will lead their young Wigan Athletic XI to Ashton Town tonight, with the chance to see what the future holds on the pitch for the club.

Kick off for the game is a 7.45pm at Edge Green Street, Ashton in Makerfield with admissions at £5 for adults and £2 for concessions.

It will be the second meeting between the sides as Latics travelled across the borough to Ashton last pre-season, coming away with a 5-1 victory as Joey Johnson claimed a brace and current Under 21 forward Omar Thompson also got onto the scoresheet (pictured right.)

Doolan takes his side into the game having returned from a week long training camp in Warwick.

Latics’ opponents tonight come into the game off the back a 1-0 victory in their first pre-season friendly on Saturday against Liverpool-based side Remyca United.

Ashton Town currently play in the North West Counties First Division and finished sixth in the league last season, losing just eight of 34 games.
