Goals, promotions and an appearance alongside Robert Duvall? We run down some facts about our new man.
Yesterday the club officially unveiled Owen Coyle to the national media and for those who want to know a bit more about the new manager we've come up with this quick fire fact file.
1 - Owen achieved promotion five times as a player with Airdrieonians, Bolton Wanderers, Dundee United, Falkirk and Airdrie.
2 - He was born in Paisley, Scotland the same place as former Latics midfielder Archie Gemmill and actors David Tennant and Gerard Butler.
3 - Owen achieved promotion to the Premier League with Burnley in the 2008/09 season with a play-off final victory over Sheffield United.
4 - In his first game as a top flight manager, Owen led Burnley to a 1-0 victory over Manchester United.
5 - As manager of Bolton Wanderers he gave first team chances to the likes of Jack Wilshere, Daniel Sturridge, Ryo Miyaichi and Rodgrio Moreno.
6 - Owen won Premier League Manager of the Month in November 2010 and March 2012.
7 - As a player Owen was a forward and scored 291 goals in over 700 games.
8 - During his playing days he played in Europe for Airdrieonians as they competed in the European Cup Winners’ Cup against Sparta Prague.
9 - While at Bolton as a player Owen scored in a promotion winning play-off final and played in the same team as two future Latics players Scott Green and David Lee. Later in his career he also played alongside former Latics forward Jason Scotland.
10 - In 2000 he made an appearance in Scottish football film A Shot at Glory starring Robert Duvall, Michael Keaton, Brian Cox and Ally McCoist.
