James McArthur excited for international games after claiming three points against Newcastle.
Gary Caldwell, Shaun Maloney and James McArthur are all involved in the Scotland national squad for their upcoming games at home to Wales and away at Serbia, with the latter admitting the trip has been made easier after recent club results.
“We had a long drive up to Scotland after the game and it made it so much easier knowing that we had those three points behind us.
“We won at home which is a huge boost for the players and the fans and it creates a really good feeling around the club.
“It’s great to be in the Scotland camp now with such a good feeling behind us and I hope me Gary and Shaun will thrive on the winning feeling from Wigan Athletic.
“For me now though, it’s about focussing on the national team in our build up to playing Wales on Friday and we’ve also got Serbia away next week, both fixtures are going to be a real test under the new manager but we’re all looking forward to it.”
Team mate James McCarthy will also be away on international duty over the coming seven days with Republic of Ireland as they take on Sweden and Austria in the World Cup Qualifiers.
The 22-year-old believes the players away with their countries will be aiming to use the break as a positive.
“Every team in the league has players involved in internationals and nobody will want to be losing focus.”
“It’s a break from club football which can re-generate you and keep you on your toes ahead of the last nine games of the season.
“It’s a little bit frustrating with the timing of the internationals because we’ve had back-to-back wins and we want to keep on top of that but of course it’s always an honour to play for the national team and I'm really excited for the upcoming games."
