Over 100 young people from across Wigan came together last month to take part in a football tournament organised as part of Wigan Athletic Community Trust Kickz project. 

Teams from Atherton, Ince, Standish Lower Ground, West Leigh, Pemberton and Shakerley took part in the tournament at Central Park on Montrose Avenue.

The winning teams then had the chance to represent the Latics in a regional competition against other North West football clubs.

The Community Trust currently runs a range of football and sports activities for young people throughout the week:

Kickz: Hag Fold

Dorset Road Community Field, Hag Fold Estate, Atherton, M46 9PT

Mondays: 6-8pm
6-7pm – Under 15s Football
7-8pm – Over 15s Football

Thursdays: 6-8pm
6-7pm – Under 15s Football
7-8pm – Over 15s Football

Fridays: 6-8pm
6-7pm – Under 15s alternative sessions (multi sports)
7-8pm – Over 15s alternative sessions (multi sports)

Kickz: Ince

Midnight Leagues: Shakerley

Shakerley Common next to the Lilford Centre, Lancaster Avenue, Shakerley, Tyldesley M29 8LN:

6pm - 7.30pm (8 - 13 year olds)
7.30pm - 8.30pm (13 - 19 year olds)

6pm - 7.30pm (8 - 13 year olds)
7.30pm - 8.30pm (13 - 19 year olds)

All sessions are free and are organised in partnership with the Premier League, Wigan and Leigh Housing, Sport England and Wigan and Leisure and Culture Trust.

The Midnight League in Shakerley is supported by the Coalfields Regeneration Trust and the Football League Trust.
