Midfielder looking forward to new experience this afternoon.

Today’s FA Cup parade through the middle of Wigan town centre is the perfect opportunity to thank supporters and a new experience says Latics midfielder James McCarthy and the 22-year-old expects a joyful afternoon.

“What’s happened in the league is disappointing but as a club we’ve won the FA Cup and we want to celebrate that with the fans.

“I think it will be a great atmosphere later today because when we’ve needed them most our fans always been there for us, so I’m sure they’ll want to come out and celebrate with us as well.

“It will be a brilliant experience for myself and a lot of our players because it will be the first time we’ve been on a parade with a trophy.”

Latics are expected to arrive in the town centre at approximately 5pm as they travel up Standishgate on an open top bus before taking to a stage at Market Place to show their appreciation to their supporters.

Fans are advised to arrive in Wigan at 4pm where there will be live entertainment from WISH FM as the atmosphere builds before the players’ arrival.

That atmosphere is something which McCarthy is thoroughly looking forward to, he added:

“They (the fans) will come out in their numbers like they did yesterday against Aston Villa, they were magnificent and made great noise.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing all of the supporters on the streets waiting for us and it will be a good chance for us to thank them.

“We’ll go out with smiles on our faces because of the FA Cup win and as a club we can be proud that we overcame the odds in that competition.”
