Head Coach and Captain back Latics for the cup

As the whole town prepares to get behind Wigan Athletic for this weekend’s FA Cup Final against Manchester City, Wigan Warriors Head Coach Shaun Wane and Captain Sean O’Loughlin have joined the masses in showing their support for Latics.

The pair were joined by Chief Executive Jonathan Jackson and Councillor Chris Ready at the Orrell Community Stadium before a Warriors training session to pose with a special edition FA Cup Final flag and offer words of support.

Wane said:

“Latics have got our full support. Any team in Wigan, any sporting team, has all our support.

“I love Wigan, I love my town. It’s great that we’ve potentially got two teams going to Wembley this year and I hope we can do what they’ve done.

“Roberto is a smart guy and a good bloke who is very easy to get on with.

“We swap ideas and we try to get all our staff together and see how we can get anything off each other, I’m all behind that.”

Jonathan Jackson added:

“It’s a special time for Wigan Athletic and a special time for the town.

“To have the support of the Warriors as well is great and the way it should be.

“We both represent Wigan and if we can both get to Wembley this year it will be fantastic.

“The clubs should work together and it’s really good to see Shaun and Sean supporting us.

“We’re a sporting town, and to have teams at the top of rugby league in the Premier League and FA Cup Final is a fantastic achievement that everyone from Wigan should be very proud of.”
