EXCITEMENT BUILDING SAYS COYLE

20 November 2013

Ahead of Latics’ three consecutive home games, Owen Coyle hopes the opportunity at the DW can be maximised.

Kicking off another hectic spell in the 2013/14 fixture calendar, Wigan Athletic will come up against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday 23 November, followed by Europa League action at home to Zulte Waregem and a third consecutive game at the DW Stadium is rounded up against Derby County on 1 December.

Manager Owen Coyle says he realises the task in hand as Latics enter a period of 12 games in 38 days, but it’s one that excites him and one he hopes the supporters will be excited by too.

“It’s a busy spell for us, but it’s also a very exciting one with a lot of fixtures that we feel we can go out and win.

“We’ve got a great chance to continue our domestic form with back-to-back home games in the league, and equally we’ve got a tremendous opportunity to progress in the Europa League.

“It’s a very exciting time for everybody involved with Wigan Athletic, but we need to make sure that we maximise the opportunity by winning games and continuing the good atmosphere around the place."

Supporters can see all of Latics’ next three games for just £33 in our recent ticket offer, and the manager hopes the fans will take advantage and continue their backing of the team.

“The quality of our support has been there for everyone to see,” said Coyle.

“If we play our football and win games then they are really going to enjoy this busy run of matches, because fans love to see their team so frequently.”

Continuing to praise Latics supporters, Coyle likened their effort and commitment to that of his players, saying:

“In difficult economic circumstances and with long away journeys they have turned out with colourful and vocal support which has rubbed off on the players.

“I think the supporters can see that they’ve got a team of players who try their hearts out in every game.

“The quality in our squad is high, but the work ethic also goes hand-in-hand with the passion shown in the stands.

“When we’ve brought that all together so far this season we’ve proved that it can be a formidable force and that’s something we’re looking to maintain over the next three home games.”

Grab yourself three games of football at the DW Stadium over eight days with our 3 for £33 offer, which wraps up the next two Championship matches against Brighton & Hove Albion and Derby County, plus the Europa League tie against Zulte Waregem into one excellent bundle.
