Latics prepare for the visit of Huddersfield Town this Saturday

Wigan Athletic v Huddersfield Town
Sky Bet Championship
Saturday 2 November 2013, kick off 3.00pm
DW Stadium, Wigan

Team News

Wigan Athletic have played twice as many games as Huddersfield Town since 03 October, six to Town’s three clearly demonstrating why the Wigan Athletic manager Owen Coyle has felt the need to shuffle his pack as often as he has done so far this campaign. Yet again, Saturday’s game is a quick turnaround for Latics coming off the back of Wednesday night’s 0-0 draw with Queens Park Rangers at the DW Stadium.

The game marks a huge landmark for Huddersfield with game being their 4000th in the football league.

Huddersfield ended a six-game winless streak with a 3-2 victorious over Yorkshire rivals Leeds Utd at the John Smith’s Stadium last time out which will fill the Terries full of confidence ahead of their visit to the DW Stadium.

Latics are looking to end a winless streak of their own not having won since the 2-1 home win over Blackburn Rovers four games ago.

Tickets are still available for this game and will continue to be available up until kick off Saturday. [Click here] for full details.

Team News

Wigan Athletic have Gary Caldwell, Ali Al Habsi and Shaun Maloney still sidelined long-term but Ivan Ramis played in a behind-closed-doors friendly match on Tuesday afternoon at the training but is not expected to be in contention for a return to action just yet. Lee Nicholls is expected to continue in goal with Scott Carson still sideline with a bruised ankle.

Huddersfield Town will be without the services of leading scorer James Vaughan who serves the second game of a three-match ban. Mark Robins has no other selection worries.

Head to Head

These two sides have met in the league on 20 previous occasions with Huddersfield holding the edge over Latics with nine wins to five and six draws. The two sides have also met on two previous occasions in the FA Cup with one win apiece, Latics quite famously last term on the way to becoming champions.
