An even encounter separated by two well timed goals from the hosts and Youth Alliance leaders Blackpool led to Latics' first defeat in seven games.
With the fire power of top goal scorer Sam Cosgrove back in John Doolan's side, Latics couldn't find the goals that have recently helped them along an impressive run of league form.
Blackpool took the lead just 90 seconds into the game through George Lomax when he lifted the ball over Under 16 goalkeeper Callum Maulby after latching onto a Conor Ready through ball.
Cosgrove and Hamilton continued to show their impressive partnership up front for Latics in terms up build-up, but they couldn't find the finish on the day and despite pressure on the young Tangerine's defence, Latics were left 2-0 down before the break.
Dion Charles was the scorer for Blackpool when he fired in from a low Henry Cameron cross just a minute before half time.
Half time substitute Danny Leigh added to Latics' offensive line down the right and had chances of his own go narrowly wide and over, but as the game continued Blackpool held on to ensure their place at the top of the North West Youth Alliance continued.
