Latics make it four unbeaten as Cosgrove grabs a double.

Cosgrove 64, 80
Anson 78

A Sam Cosgrove brace and a close range finish from defender Adam Anson brought Latics back from behind in the second half as they made it four games unbeaten in all competitions, with their second consecutive league win.

It was Latics first home game since late August, as they battled back in front of the crowd at Robin Park Arena to power to a 3-1 victory, with Cosgrove rounding off the result in style, two minutes after Latics took the lead, as he smashed a 25 yard effort into the top corner.

Latics made a forceful start to the game as Cosgrove and fellow forward Matthew Hamilton linked up well.

Hamilton, Cosgrove and Under 16 midfielder Josh Gregory all attempted to break the deadlock, but to no avail during the first half as Morecambe held out.

The visitors made their mark a minute into the second half when Latics lost possession in their own half and fell victim to a pot shot from range caught goalkeeper Yusuf Mersin unawares to give the Shrimps the lead.

Moments later Morecambe almost doubled their lead when Latics gave it away again in their own half, but this time Mersin stood strong to save in a one-on-one.

Jordan Flores was introduced before the hour mark to make his return from injury as he replaced Omar Carey.

The winger added bite to Latics' attack and within moments they came close to an equaliser when Flores fed Cosgrove into the area down the right, but the forward narrowly missed.

Flores then cut inside an took a shot of his own, earning a corner as the goalkeeper tipped it around his right post.

Latics continued to up the pressure, with Cosgrove going close with a header, before finding space in the penalty area to round the goalkeeper and tap in the equalising goal.

From the leveller Latics only looked towards victory and on 78 minutes Adam Anson gave them a much deserved lead when he turned in Flores' corner.

Two minutes later Latics made sure the tie was pushed beyond Morecambe when Cosgrove produced a moment of brilliance, striking from fully 25 yards and finding the top corner of the goal.

Latics could have added a fourth with seconds remaining when Flores poked the ball over the out-rushing goalkeeper, but couldn't reach it in time to tap it over the line as defenders battled back to clear the ball.
