Owen Coyle takes his side to Vicarage Road this Saturday to face Gianfranco Zola's Watford who narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League. A dramatic finish to their final game of the season against Hull saw them miss out on the automatic places, then they suffered heartbreak at Wembley Stadium at the hand of Crystal Palace in the play off final.
The game is Latics' fourth in nine days continuing an intense period of fixtures which has seen the manager shuffle his teams to the the point that there is no single player who has played every competitive game this season.
Wigan Athletic will have to contend once again with the absence of Shaun Maloney who has been to see a special about his back. The Scott suffered the injury while on international duty despite play both 90 minutes for his country.
Grant Holt also remains on the side lines, Coyle revealed he had be hopeful the strike would be available for this game but admitted in his pre-match press conference that the game now appears to be too soon for him. Latics also are with long-term injured Gary Caldwell, Ali Al Habsi and Ivan Ramis.
