Latics host Hartlepool in Final Third Development League Cup semi-final.Wigan Athletic's Development Squad face their second semi-final in less than a week as they host Hartlepool United in the Final Third Development League Cup semi-final, just five days after booking their place in the Lancashire FA Senior Cup final following victory over Bolton Wanderers.
Wigan Athletic v Hartlepool United
Final Third Development League Cup
Tuesday 22 April 2014, kick off 2.00pm
Robin Park Arena
Latics host Hartlepool United hoping to book their place in a second semi-final of the season, having beaten Bolton Wanderers 2-1 last week in the LFA Senior Cup semi-final.
Victory over Hartlepool would set up a final meeting with Mansfield Town who beat Leicester City in the other semi-final.
Latics head into the game with two wins from their last four games, losing out narrowly to Oldham Athletic and Morecambe, but claiming priceless wins against Tranmere Rovers (to seal the league title) and the semi-final last Thursday against Bolton.
Hartlepool have been less fortunate in their recent results and are currently on a three game losing streak, with heavy defeats to Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday, as well as a 3-1 defeat to Mansfield in their last Final Third Development League outing.
How they got here
Latics ran out winners of FTDL Cup Group C, collecting nine points from a possible 12, with victories over Carlisle United, Tranmere Rovers and Morecambe.
Hartlepool's route to the semi-final saw them finish as runners-up in Group B on six points, qualifying as the best second placed side across all three groups.
