Uwe Rosler set to utilise squad depth ahead of heavy fixture period starting with Sheffield Wednesday.
Speaking ahead of Wigan Athletic’s second trip of the season to Hillsborough, Uwe Rosler said now is the time for his whole squad to come into action as Latics prepare for five games in the space of 15 days.
“There have been no more injuries and we will have the same squad of players available.
“We’ve now got a period of five games in 15 days and it makes sense that the squad will be used.
“We have to get players on the pitch who are ready to compete in every single game, we have to freshen things up when needed and hopefully we come through this next spell with positive results.”
Recapping the performance of his team on Saturday against Huddersfield Town, Rosler said they have taken the positives from the performance and are ready to take them into the game against Sheffield Wednesday.
“We spent yesterday analysing Saturday’s game and today focused on getting ready for Sheffield Wednesday.
“We were quite calm after the game because I thought and still think that we didn’t do many things wrong on Saturday.
“There were a lot of positives, especially considering the weather conditions, but unfortunately we didn’t convert our chances.
“At the moment we probably need more chances to score than other teams do and Huddersfield was a good example of that.
“As long as we continue to create those chances and compete effectively as a team then the results will follow.”
The fixture against Sheffield Wednesday is as a result of the original game being abandoned on 60 minutes due to unplayable conditions back in December, and Rosler expects a very different Wednesday outfit.
“Stuart Gray has done a marvellous job to change the characteristics of the team and they have much more energy about them now.
“They are very good in transition and they counter attack really well, but they also have weaknesses and it’s up to us to expose those weaknesses just like we did at the beginning of December.
“Sheffield Wednesday are a very different team to what they were in December.”
