It’s back to league business after Saturday's magnificent win in the FA Cup at Cardiff City with the focus now firmly on chasing a play off place in the Sky Bet Championship.
The game is an crucial opportunity to make up some ground on the leading group in the table but it’s equally important for Barnsley who sit second from bottom and five points from safety but with two games in hand over Millwall.
James McArthur and Ben Watson remain doubtful for the game with Watson replaced in the 2-1 over Cardiff and McArthur (virus) missing the game through illness. Rosler is expected to shuffle his pack once more with Leon Barnett set to make his 40th start of the season if recalled after sitting out Saturday’s FA Cup tie in South Wales.
Lewin Nyatanga, Stephen Dawson, former Latics striker Tomasz Cywka and Liam Lawrence are all pressing for a recall for Barnsley. Brek Shea hopes to recover from illness but Jacob Mellis (suspension) and Bobby Hassell (calf) miss out.
Head to Head
Latics have never lost to Barnsley in the lead and have the overall edge in terms of head to head with four wins to Tyke’s two. The previous meeting on the opening day of the season produced the biggest margin of victory in this fixture when Latics ran out 4-0 winners. [Click here] for the full head to head record.
