Ben Watson enjoys round of golf with staff on rest day as he progresses well.

Ben Watson is well and truly on the road to recovery following last season’s broken leg set-back, as these latest pictures from Latics’ pre-season training camp in Germany testify.

The midfielder has been put through his paces this week, with strenuous sessions on the bike, the rowing machine, in the gym and even a bit of light running as he continues his rehabilitation.

“I feel great,” he said, “the leg has healed now and it’s a case of building up the strength in the muscles and working on my fitness day by day. I know I can’t rush back, I have to be patient, but things are progressing really well.

“It can be tough sometimes, but injuries are part and parcel of being a footballer. I’ve never been one to feel sorry for myself, so it’s just a case of working hard and being patient. The medical staff at the club have been fantastic in supporting me and I’m happy with how it’s going.”

Keen golfer Ben was able to join in with a round with manager Uwe Rosler, Graham Barrow and James Barrow on the greens of Teutoburger Golf Club yesterday, close to the team’s training camp in Gutersloh, after working hard on the training ground all week.
