World Cup dream all-but over for Espinoza and Garcia whilst Beausejour's Chile march on.

Roger Espinoza and Juan Carlos Garcia both featured as Honduras saw their qualification hopes all-but ended after a narrow 2-1 defeat against Ecuador in Group E at the 2014 World Cup.

Enner Valencia scored twice for the Ecuadorians after Carlo Costly has given the Hondurans the lead.

The defeat means Espinoza and Garcia must help their side to a four-goal victory over Switzerland Manaus whilst hoping that France can defeat Ecuador in the group’s other fixture.

Elsewhere, Jean Beausejour was an unused substitute as Chile secured their place in the knockout stages of the World Cup with a fine 2-0 win over Spain.

Beausejour, who scored in Chile’s opening win over Australia, was rested for the clash with the World Champions who, following the defeat, exited the competition following back-to-back defeats.

30-year-old Beausejour could return to Chile’s side for Monday’s clash with Holland with both sides already safely through to the last 16.
