Wigan Athletic manager Uwe Rösler has been named the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month for February as win over Nottingham Forest named Performance of the Week by LMA.
Latics boss Uwe Rosler has been named Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month while the team have been awarded the LMA’s Performance of the Week award for their stunning 4-1 victory at Nottingham Forest last weekend.
Rösler has steered the team to four wins from five matches in February including a crucial away victory at Brighton.
Dave Bassett chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel. He said: “Uwe has moved his side firmly into Play-Off contention as we enter the business end of the season.
“He’s made a fantastic impact at The DW Stadium, coupling impressive league form with progress in the FA Cup.”
Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “Uwe thoroughly deserves credit this month for guiding his team to four victories in five matches.
“That has propelled them firmly into the Play-Off scrap and with some tough games coming up Wigan will certainly want to take advantage of the good momentum they’ve built up.”
Meanwhile the team have also scooped the LMA’s Performance of the Week for last Saturday’s emphatic win at the city Ground where goals from Martyn Waghorn, Emmerson Boyce, James McArthur and a stunning long range strike from Jordi Gomez capped off an almost perfect performance.
The League Managers Association five-man Performance of the Week panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were in agreement that this week, the LMA Performance of the Week Award should go to Wigan Athletic.
Wigan Athletic manager Uwe Rosler will receive a specially engraved crystal football on behalf of the team in a presentation to commemorate the award.
