ROGER ESPINOZA INJURY CONFIRMED

14 March 2014

Uwe Rosler confirms Roger Espinoza has undergone an operation on a hernia.

Uwe Rosler has today confirmed that Honduras international midfielder Roger Espinoza has travelled to Munich to undergo a hernia operation following Sunday's game against Manchester City.

Speaking in his pre-Ipswich Town interview, Rosler revealed:

"Roger has been operated on in Munich this morning with a hernia problem.

"We expect him to be back pretty soon and hopefully he will be involved in some games before the end of the season.

"We are optimistic about his situation and he should be able to contribute during the run-in.

"We've now faced three unexpected injuries in central midfield which is not ideal for us, but we have to continue and hope that Roger will be back soon."

Following his surgery, Espinoza shared his thoughts, saying:

"It's frustrating to be away from the team right now, but it was an operation that I needed to have in the long-term.

"The surgery went really well, but now it's time to rest up and recover and hopefully I'll be back within a few weeks.

"It's an important time of the season for us and I really want to be involved as much as possible."

Espinoza has so far been involved in 25 games this season across all competitions, scoring a stunning goal in the FA Cup third round against MK Dons in January.

The 27-year-old came on as a 66th minute substitute last weekend during Latics' 2-1 FA Cup quarter final triumph over Man City.
