Match Preview

Latics will look to get back to winning ways after the late drama that saw them draw 3-3 with Yeovil Town on Tuesday night at the DW Stadium.

Despite Tuesday’s result, Wigan Atheltic are undefeated at the DW Stadium since the loss to Derby on 1 December. Watford haven’t won an away game since 5 October when they were 2-1 winners at Huddersfield although the have won all of their previous six home games.

Uwe Rosler has confirmed that Leon Barnett will not be available for the visit of Watford but James Perch will be assessed after a late training sessions toda (Friday).  Rosler is still undecided if new loan signing Jack Collison will feature this weekend.

Both Gary Caldwell and Shaun Maloney played 76 minutes in the development squad games against Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday afternoon but there is no indication whether either are in contention for a place in Saturday’s squad.

Chris McCann (knee), Ben Watson (leg) and Roger Espinoza (hernia) remain sidelined)

Watford will again be without Mathias Ranegie when they travel to in-form Wigan.

The Swedish striker serves the second game of a three-match ban for his red card against Doncaster.

Fellow forward Fernando Forestieri could also miss out with the toe injury which forced him to watch last weekend's 3-0 victory over Barnsley from the sidelines.

Lewis McGugan made his comeback from a thigh problem in that game and he could retain his place after such a convincing win.

Head to Head

History would tend to point towards a Latics win or a draw from this game as there has never been an away victory in this fixture. It is neck and neck however in terms of overall meetings with four wins apiece and five draws [Click here] for our full head to head guide.
