Jordi Gomez is the travelling supporters' choice at Player of The Year Awards.

Jordi Gomez has won the Away Player of The Year award, announced at the DW Stadium tonight.

The supporters travelling on the official Wigan Athletic Supporters Club coaches to every away choose a man of the match on the return journey and Gomez has come out on top this season.

Gomez says he is delighted to be given the award.

“The fans who travel to every game are very important because they are always there to support the team wherever we go, and to be given this award is a big honour. Thank you very much.”

Jason Taylor, Wigan Athletic Supporters Liaison Officer, said:

“Jordi’s put a real smile on the supporters’ faces this season, he has been consistently excellent and when he scores goals like he did at Nottingham Forest or the penalty at Manchester City, then he’s always going to get a lot of admirers.

"The goals aside, it’s his overall play that has attracted attention.

"He has become the complete midfield player and we hope this award recognises how much we appreciate his efforts this season.”
