McClean triumphant in 4-1 win as Maloney, Kvist and Figueroa also feature.

  • James McClean scores third in 4-1 win against USA.
  • Maloney completes 90 minutes in 3-1 defeat to England.
  • Figueroa and Kvist also in action for Honduras and Denmark.
The final set of international fixtures for Wigan Athletic players this month were a mixed bag, with one victory, two defeats and a draw, but the roaring success from yesterday evening was James McClean's Republic of Ireland, who sealed an emphatic 4-1 victory against USA in Dublin.

McClean came off the bench in the second half to score his fourth international goal in his 25th appearance, when his left footed effort deflected in off Geoff Cameron to give Ireland a 3-1 lead.

In Glasgow, Shaun Maloney played 80 minutes in Scotland's 3-1 defeat to England, whilst over in Romania, Denmark and captain William Kvist fell 2-0.

Earlier on Tuesday, Honduras faced their second fixture in East Asia, drawing 0-0 with China.

Ali Al Habsi and Oman continued their 2014 Gulf Cup campaign, drawing 1-1 with Iraq.  They will play their final group stage game tomorrow against Kuwait, knowing a victory would see them qualify for the semi-final.
