Latics Football Studies students visit Christopher Park

Students taking part in a Latics Football Studies course led by Wigan Athletic Community Trust, were treated to a visit to Christopher Park Training Ground earlier today.

The youngsters got to meet the new Latics manager, Malky Mackay, as well as the first team players, as they came out for their Thursday morning training session.

The Community Trust also presented the students with a signed and framed Wigan Athletic shirt for their school, Abraham Guest Academy.

Latics Football Studies provides students with the opportunity to take part in sports and coaching activities, through which they work towards gaining BTEC sports and business and enterprise qualifications.

Tom Flower, Head of Community, said: “We have worked very closely with Abraham Guest Academy for a number of years, so it was great to get some of their students to the training ground and give them the chance to meet the players.

“The school has always been very supportive of the Trust’s work and as well as the Latics Football Studies project, their students regularly take part in work experience and enterprise activities with us. As we also use the school as a venue for projects such as Latics Kicks, Premier League 4 Sport and our Soccer Schools, we wanted to present them with a special signed shirt to recognise our partnership.”
