RIERA THANKS BRIGHTON STAFF FOR FINDING WEDDING RING

7 November 2014

Lord of the ring Oriol thanks Brighton staff after finding his ‘precious’

Latics striker Oriol Riera has thanked the tunnel stewards at Brighton and Hove Albion’s Amex Stadium after they found his lost wedding ring – ‘I am a very relieved man now,’ he said.

The Spanish striker, who arrived at the club from Osasuna in the summer, forgot to remove his ring when he came onto the field after 75 minutes of the Sky Bet Championship match at the Amex on Tuesday and when he realised, he placed it inside his sock. When he came to remove his sock at the end of the game, he realised it must have slipped out during the action.

Thankfully, after an extensive search by the Brighton tunnel stewards– alongside several of the Latics’ backroom staff – the ring was found after the game, and returned to a very relieved Oriol.

“Thank you so much to the Brighton people for helping me find the ring – my wife would not be happy if I lost it. It was not a good result for us but I could leave the stadium with a little smile.”
