Ben Watson and Chris McCann returned to action this afternoon in a behind closed doors friendly against Everton at Christopher Park.
Watson has been out injured since breaking his leg in February during a home game against Barnsley, with McCann featuring for the first time since fracturing his knee cap in the 2-1 FA Cup quarter final victory against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Both midfielders successfully completed 60 minutes, with Watson coming close in the first half from a free kick and almost setting up a goal scoring opportunity for Matthew Hamilton with a pin-point cross.
McCann produced a combatant performance, linking up well with his midfield partner as well as finding the front men with some excellent passing.
Club Captain Gary Caldwell also featured for 45 minutes.
In his press conference yesterday manager Uwe Rosler warned against rushing both players back, but was delighted to welcome them into action:
“We have to be very careful with Ben and Chris, we cannot afford to rush things and their recoveries must both be perfect.
“Welcoming players of this calibre back into the group certainly brings extra quality to training sessions.”
