Five Wigan Athletic first team players have been called up for their national teams this month, with Shaun Maloney, Emyr Huws, William Kvist and James McClean all involved in UEFA Euro 2016 qualifiers, and Ali Al Habsi in friendly action for Oman.

Maloney is part of a Scotland squad who will host Georgia in Group D, before travelling to Poland next week. Gordon Strachan’s side narrowly lost their opening fixture 2-1 against Germany last month.

In the same group, James McClean’s Republic of Ireland will host Gibraltar, before travelling to face leaders Germany in Gelsenkirchen. The forward wasn’t involved in the opening group stage game, but watched his country kick off the campaign with a 2-1 victory against Georgia.

In Group B Emyr Huws and Wales will be looking to build on their 2-1 winning start against Andorra, with a double header at home, taking on Bosnia & Herzegovina, before facing Cyprus on matchday three.

William Kvist was away with Denmark when he signed for the club on deadline day, with his side recording a 2-1 victory over Armenia. The Danes will look to build on this positive start when they travel to Albania, before playing host to Portugal.

Ali Al Habsi has also travelled to meet up with his national team, as Oman host two friendlies in the space of three days, taking on World Cup 2014 participants Costa Rica and Uruguay.
